Cyclones bring back Helgeson

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced that forward Max Helgeson has signed with the team ahead of the 2026-27 season. With his signing, Helgeson will skate in his first full professional season with the Cyclones. 

Helgeson, 25, is coming off 15 appearances with the Cyclones to conclude the 2025-26 campaign. The product of Anchorage, Alaska recorded four assists to start his professional career, including three assists in his first four games in the ECHL. Before he joined Cincinnati, he logged 20 points (10g-10a) in his final collegiate season at Miami University. He recorded 68 points (33g-35a) over the course of his four collegiate seasons, including three seasons at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. 

Prior to the start of his NCAA career, he started out at Lindenwood University and claimed the ACHA National Championship in 2021-22. At the junior level, Helgeson spent three seasons competing in the North American Hockey League, playing for the Janesville Jets, Jamestown Rebels and Kenai River Brown Bears. He logged 88 points (37g-51a) throughout his 105-game junior career.
