Toledo Walleye defenseman Jacob MacDonald is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 5-11.
MacDonald scored two goals and added five assists for seven points in four games last week.
The 23-year-old had three points (1g-2a) in a 5-4 win against Fort Wayne on Tuesday, picked up an assist in a 4-3 victory at Alaska on Friday and in an 8-6 loss to the Aces on Saturday and had a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over Alaska on Sunday.
A native of Brighton, Mich., MacDonald is tied for second among ECHL defensemen this season with six goals and is third among blue liners with 21 points in 22 games.
MacDonald has tallied 61 points (24g-37a) in 101 career ECHL games with Toledo and Elmira and last season earned a spot on the ECHL All-Rookie Team.
Prior to turning pro, MacDonald recorded 21 points (4g-17a) in 104 career collegiate games at Cornell University.
On behalf of Jacob MacDonald, a case of pucks will be donated to a Toledo youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 35,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
