Christian Hilbrich of the Wheeling Nailers is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 9-15.
Hilbrich scored five goals and added four assists for nine points in four games last week.
The 24-year-old had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over Toledo on Wednesday and in a 4-3 loss to the Walleye on Friday, picked up an assist in a 5-1 loss against Kalamazoo on Saturday and had four points (3g-1a) in a 5-1 victory at Kalamazoo on Sunday.
A native of Port Credit, Ontario, Hilbrich has 24 points (9g-15a) in 35 games with the Nailers this season.
Prior to turning pro, Hilbrich posted 48 points (27g-21a) in 111 career games at Cornell University. He added 48 points (23g-25a) in 108 career games with Indiana of the United States Hockey League.
On behalf of Christian Hilbrich, a case of pucks will be donated to a Wheeling youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 35,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
