Trevor Cheek of the Fort Wayne Komets is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 20-26. He also won the award for the week ending Nov. 6.
Cheek scored seven goals and added two assists for nine points last week, helping the Komets to a 3-0-1 record.
The 24-year-old picked up an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to Quad City on Wednesday, scored a pair of goals in a 5-1 win at Indy on Friday, notched a hat trick in a 6-0 victory over Wichita on Saturday and tallied three points (2g-1a) in a 4-3 win against Wheeling on Sunday.
A native of Vancouver, Wash., Cheek has 25 points (15g-10a) in 22 games with Fort Wayne this season and he has added three assists in 20 games with Tucson of the American Hockey League.
Cheek has recorded 50 points (32g-28a) in 50 career ECHL games with Fort Wayne and 35 points (13g-22a) in 166 career AHL games with Lake Erie, San Antonio and Tucson.
Prior to turning pro, Cheek recorded 134 points (65g-69a) in 195 career Western Hockey League games with Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton.
On behalf of Trevor Cheek, a case of pucks will be donated to a Fort Wayne youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 35,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
