Toledo Walleye defenseman Simon Denis is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 6-12.
Denis scored four goals, added three assists and was a +5 in three games last week.
The 25-year-old scored a goal in a 3-1 loss at Brampton on Friday, recorded four points (3g-1a) in a 5-4 overtime loss the Beast on Saturday and picked up a pair of assists in a 9-1 victory against Cincinnati on Sunday.
A native of Burnaby, British Columbia, Denis is tied for third among rookie defensemen with eight goals and is tied for eighth among all blue liners with 33 points. He made his pro debut last season with Fort Wayne tallying two assists in three games.
Prior to turning pro, Denis tallied 60 points (15g-45a) in 141 career games at Ferris State University. He added nine points (1g-8a) in 28 games with Tri-City of the United States Hockey League.
On behalf of Simon Denis, a case of pucks will be donated to a Toledo youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 35,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
