Kalamazoo Wings’ goaltender Joel Martin recorded his 173rd career ECHL win on Sunday against Cincinnati, moving him into a tie with Jason Saal for fourth place on the league’s all-time wins list.
Martin is 173-125-32 in 341 career appearances with Columbus, Elmira, Trenton, Augusta and Kalamazoo. He ranks fifth all-time in ECHL history with 19,790 minutes played and is tied for 14th with 13 shutouts.
He owns the top two seasons in league history for minutes played with 3,777 in 2015-16 and 3,739 in 2012-13 and holds second place (2,084 in 2015-16) and third place (2,051 in 2012-13) on the single-season saves list.
Martin has won 30 or more games three times in his ECHL career (2012-13, 2014-15 and 2015-16), the most in league history and he is just one of three goaltenders to post consecutive 30-plus win seasons.
