Mavericks' move up in Mountain with five-game winning streak

A five-game winning streak coupled with a 10-2-2 record over their last 14 games has moved the Missouri Mavericks to within four points of Alaska for the final playoff spot in the Mountain Division. The Mavericks are in sixth place of the division with an overall record of 23-19-7 for 53 points.

Missouri opened last week with a 2-1 overtime win against Wichita on Tuesday. Matt Finn worked some late-game magic in the contest, scoring the tying goal with 1:50 remaining in regulation and then adding the game-winning goal with less than one second left in overtime. Eamon McAdam stopped 33 shots, including the final 27 shots he faced, to pick up the win in goal.

On Friday, McAdam stopped all 53 shots he faced as the Mavericks picked up a 3-0 victory at Tulsa. All three of Missouri’s goals came in the third period with Dane Fox scoring twice and Reed Seckel adding an empty-net tally late in the period.

The Mavericks concluded their two-game series against the Oilers with a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday. Radoslav Illo scored a pair of goals while Fox scored the game-winning tally for the second straight game, scoring 3:55 into the extra session. McAdam continued his impressive week, stopping 44 Tulsa shots.

Fox leads Missouri on the season with 21 goals and 51 points. Darren Nowick is second on the team, and ranks fourth among ECHL rookies, with 41 points (18g-23a) in 49 games.

McAdam, who is 11-3-1 in 17 appearances, is tied for fifth among rookie goaltenders in wins, and has won his last seven starts.

Missouri opens a four-game home stand this week, hosting Quad City on Friday and Toledo on Saturday.
