Joel Rumpel of the Cincinnati Cyclones is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 27-March 5. It is the second time in his career that he has received the weekly honor.
Rumpel went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .979 in two victories against Adirondack last week.
The 25-year-old stopped all 46 shots he faced in a 2-0 win on Thursday and followed that up with 51 saves in a 3-2 victory on Saturday.
A native of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Rumpel has appeared in seven games for the Cyclones this season posting a record of 3-3-0 with two shutouts, a 2.74 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
Rumpel has seen action in 50 career ECHL games with Cincinnati and Allen going 27-14-5 with four shutouts, a 2.70 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910 while capturing Kelly Cup titles with the Americans each of the previous two seasons. He also has appeared in two career games with San Jose of the American Hockey League with a 1-0-1 record.
Prior to turning pro, Rumpel played collegiate hockey at the University of Wisconsin where he posted a 53-50-11 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage over four seasons and in 2013-14 was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
