Clarke Saunders of the Colorado Eagles has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for February.
The 27-year-old went 8-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.85 goals-against average and a save percentage of .933 in eight appearances during the month.
Saunders allowed two goals or less in five of his eight appearances and made at least 24 saves in six games. He stopped 26 shots in a 7-1 win against Utah on Feb. 25 to extend the Eagles’ winning streak to 15 games, tied for the third longest streak in ECHL history, and his own personal winning streak to 10 games.
A native of Brockville, Ontario, Saunders is tied for second in the ECHL with 25 wins, is fourth with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage and is tied for fourth with three shutouts.
Saunders has appeared in 89 career games with Colorado posting an overall record of 61-19-5 with six shutouts, a 2.68 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Saunders played four seasons of collegiate hockey, spending two years at the University of Alabama-Huntsville and two years at the University of North Dakota.
