Local product Swavely returns to Royals

Local product Swavely returns to Royals

Reading, Pa. – Forward Steven Swavely has signed a contract with the Reading Royals for the 2018-19 season.

The Royals are the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

The Reading native has played in the Flyers' organization since 2016 and signed after completing his senior season at the University of Maine. Swavely graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 2010.

 Last season, Swavely tallied 29 points (13g-16a) in 38 games for the Royals last season and added five points (3g-2a) in 22 games with Lehigh Valley.

The 26-year-old has 68 points (31g-37a) in 78 games with Reading while posting eight points (6g-2a) in 50 games with the Phantoms.

Swavely captained Maine during his senior NCAA season and grew up playing locally for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and New Jersey Hitmen.
