ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Tim Shoup for the 2018-19 season.
The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
Shoup, 23, joins the Solar Bears after completing his college career this past season at Dartmouth College, where the senior served as an alternate captain, and led the Big Green defensive corps with 10 points (5g-5a) and 12 penalty minutes. In 107 career games with Dartmouth, Shoup recorded 25 points (7g-18a) and 73 penalty minutes.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native also played one season of junior hockey with the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League, where he earned USHL All-Rookie Team honors with 16 points (5g-11a) and 30 penalty minutes over 52 games, and helped the Ice capture the 2014 Clark Cup championship.
