Prior to turning pro, Thibault played four seasons for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Baie-Comeau Drakkar. A native of Ste-Martine, Quebec, he amassed 284 penalty minutes to go along with 50 points (10g-40a) in 207 career games. In 2016-17, Thibault was selected as the team's captain and netted a career-best 21 points (6g-25a) and 81 penalty minutes.
