ECHL/PHPA Captains' Club Jersey Auction is underway

Niagara Falls, Ontario - The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) and ECHL, in association with The MeiGray Group, are pleased to announce that the annual ECHL-PHPA Captains’ Club Jersey Auction, which benefits the ECHL Health and Welfare Trust Fund, is now underway.

A collection of 21game-worn ECHL Captain sweaters from the 2019-20 season are currently being auctioned online at www.meigrayauctions.com.  The auction will conclude beginning at 9pm ET on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

The 2019-20 Season began in October, 2019 however, on March 14, 2020, the remainder of the regular season and playoffs was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Captain’s Club Jersey Auction was initiated in 2004 to help fund the ECHL Health and Welfare Trust, which provides ECHL players and their familiesaccess to counseling services when dealing with personal and behavioral health concerns, or assistance with a specific hardship.

“Following a year like no other we have experienced, ECHL players and their families are in need of support systems that are funded in part by the Captains’ Club jersey auction.  This is trulya great way for fans and collectors alike to obtain rare and often hard to find game-worn jerseys, while directly supporting ECHL players and their families,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon.  “Captains are leaders and greatly respected by their teammates.  This strong bond allows them to encourage their teammates to seek assistance for matters that require extra attention both on and off the ice.”

“These jerseys are symbols of each team's leadership,” said MeiGray President Barry Meisel. “We're proud to work with the ECHL’s Health and Welfare Trust Fund.”

MeiGray has worked with the ECHL and the PHPA since 2001 and authenticates for seven National Hockey League clubs, the National Basketball Association, the National Women’s Hockey League, and USA Hockey.
