ESTERO, Fla. – Lukas Kaelble’s goal from the right-wing circle with 4:15 remaining in overtime gave the Florida Everblades a 3-2 win over the Toledo Walleye in Game 4 of the 2022 Kelly Cup Finals in front of a standing-room only crowd of 7,535 at Hertz Arena.
Florida leads the series 3 games to 1 and can claim its first Kelly Cup title since 2012 in Game 5 on Saturday. It is Florida’s sixth overtime win of the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs, which is tied for second most in ECHL postseason history.
The Everblades opened the scoring 8:21 into the opening period when Jake McLaughlin blasted a shot past Toledo goaltender Billy Christopoulos on a power play for his first goal of the playoffs.
Josh Dickinson pulled Toledo even at 14:44 of the first period when he redirected a pass from TJ Hensick past Florida goaltender Cam Johnson.
Toledo went ahead with 2:34 remaining in regulation on a power-play goal from Matt Berry, but Florida forced overtime with 20.2 seconds to go on a blast by Joe Pendenza from the right-wing circle.
