KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets, announced the re-signing of goaltender Trevor Gorsuch and forward Matheson Iacopelli.
Gorsuch went 23-24-0 with a 3.35 goals-against average and a save percentage of .900 in 50 appeareances with Kalamazoo in 2021-22. He led the ECHL with 1,420 saves, was second with 2,815 minutes played and was tied for second with 23 wins.
The St. Charles, Missouri native has played for eight professional teams - Fort Wayne, Jacksonville, Reading, Toledo, and Utah in the ECHL, along with Chicago of the American Hockey Legaue and Fayetteville and Macon of the Southern Professional Hockey Legaue.
Prior to turning pro, Gorsuch appeared in 52 games at Western Michigan University, going 25-16-3, including a career-best 19-11-1 record in 32 games as a senior in 2018-19.
Iacopelli is set to return for his third full season with the K-Wings in 2022-23. He caught fire at the end of last season, scoring 23 points (15g-8a) in the K-Wings final 22 games, along with five game-winners. Overall, the Brownstown, Michigan native played a career high 61 games for the K-Wings in 2021-22, posting 36 points (21g-15a). Since turning pro in 2017-18, Iacopelli has played for Rockford of the AHL along with ECHL time with Indy and Manchester.
The 28-year-old played two seasons of collegiate hockey at Western Michigan University, tallying 43 points (21g-22a) in 67 games.
