PORTLAND, Maine –The Maine Mariners announced the team has re-signed forward Cam Askew for the 2023-24 season. It will be Askew’s third season in Maine, and his sixth professional campaign.

The South Boston, Massachusetts native has enjoyed two productive seasons with the Mariners, including a career-year in 2021-22, when he registered a personal-best 38 points and 23 goals in 69 games. He added five points (3g-2a) in six playoff games. Last season, Askew appeared in 52 games, scoring 32 points (15g-17a) while serving as an alternate captain.

Askew was originally acquired by the Mariners in an offseason trade from the South Carolina Stingrays during the summer of 2021. He spent the first three seasons of his pro career in South Carolina, debuting in the 2018-19 season. Askew went to the Kelly Cup Finals with the Stingrays in 2021. His entire professional career has been spent in the ECHL.

The 26-year-old forward was highly touted as a junior player in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was drafted 11th overall by Drummondville in 2015. Askew spent five seasons in the QMJHL from 2013-2018, with four different organizations.
