Walters inks deal with K-Wings

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced that defenseman Connor Walters has signed a contract for the 2023-24 season.

Walters, 26, is entering his third professional season after suiting up for the Wichita Thunder in 2022-23. He tallied 15 points (1g-14a) in 63 games and received the Thunder's Community Service Award for his efforts off the ice in the local community. Walters' rights were acquired by Kalamazoo in June as the future considerations portion of a trade completed during the 2022-23 season.

The Welland, Ontario native started his pro career with the Toledo Walleye in 2021-22, notching five assists in 36 games. He was traded to Wichita late that season, adding four points (3g-1a) in eight games. 

Walters’ junior career is comprised of parts of five seasons in the Ontraio Hockey League with Owen Sound and Hamilton. He totaled 93 points (10g-83a) in 260 games from 2013-18 and was part of Hamilton's 2018 OHL championship squad. Following his OHL career, he spent two seasons with Brock University from 2018-20.
