KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced that forward James McEwan signed a contract for the 2023-24 season.
McEwan, 26, was acquired by Kalamazoo via trade with the Florida Everblades last February, and he appeared in three games for the K-Wings last season.
The Chatham, Ontario native began his professional career with the Orlando Solar Bears before joining Florida for the bulk of the 2022-23 season. He suited up in 28 games for the Everblades, totaling nine points (5g-4a) and eight penalty minutes.
Prior to signing with Orlando, McEwan played 59 games for the University of New Brunswick, racking up 24 points (10g-14a) and 26 penalty minutes from 2018-22. He also recorded two assists during the Reds’ 2018-19 playoff run, culminating in his first of two USports (AUS) championships.
