Skarek makes NHL debut

Former Worcester Railers' goaltender Jakub Skarek became the 762nd former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the New York Islanders on Sunday at Florida.

Skarek is the 10th former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2024-25 season. He made his pro debut with the Railers in 2019-20, going 3-9-2 in 14 appearances with a 3.73 goals-against average and a save percentage of .879

Selected by the Islanders in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Skarek has seen action in 159 career games with Bridgeport of the American Hockey League where he is 49-82-16 with five shutouts, a 3.30 goals-against average and a save percentage of .892.
