Stevenson makes NHL debut

Stevenson makes NHL debut

Former South Carolina Stingrays' goaltender Clay Stevenson became the 768th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Washington Capitals on Thursday at Pittsburgh.

Stevenson is the 16th former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2024-25 season. He made his pro debut with the Stingrays during the 2022-23 season posting a record of 19-12-4 with three shutouts in 36 appearances. He ranked second in the ECHL that season with a 2.54 goals-against average and seventh with a .916 save percentage.

A native of Drayton Valley, Alberta, Stevenson has seen action in 72 career games with Hershey of the American Hockey League where he is 45-18-6 with nine shutouts, a 2.44 goals-against average and a save percentage of .907.
