INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, announced that they have signed defenseman Randy Cure to a contract for the 2016-17 season. The third-year professional split the previous season between the Fort Wayne Komets and Tulsa Oilers.
Cure spent the 2015-16 preseason with the Komets before a late-October trade sent him to Tulsa. The native of Bloomington, Minn. appeared in three games for the Oilers before returning to the Komets in December, where he tallied four points (1g-3a), 16 penalty minutes and a +5 rating in 28 games. The 26-year-old has appeared in 68 career ECHL contests with the Komets, Oilers, Evansville IceMen and Elmira Jackals, recording nine points (2g-7a) and 50 penalty minutes.
A graduate of Mercyhurst University, Cure logged 11 points (1g-10a) in 113 total NCAA games for the Lakers, including eight assists in 2013-14 en route to an American Hockey Association regular-season title.
