Jackals add 2015 All-Star Fawcett

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced the team has signed forward Tyson Fawcett to a contract for the 2016-17 season.

Fawcett begins his third professional season and his first with the Jackals, spending the previous two seasons in the ECHL. As a rookie with the Brampton Beast in 2014-15, the Barrie, Ontario native was named to the ECHL All-Star Game in Orlando. That season, he put up 24 points (9g-15a) in 59 games.

The 23-year-old is coming off a strong season for the Evansville IceMen last season, where he finished fourth on the team with 42 points (22g-20a) while proving to be durable by appearing in all 72 games. His 22 goals ranked second on the team.

Before turning pro, Fawcett had a successful junior career, spending two seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts from 2012-14. He was named an alternate captain for the Colts in 2013-14 and over the two seasons he registered 75 points (35g-40a) in 130 games. He also had 15 points (3g-12a) in 31 career OHL playoff games over the two seasons.
