MOLINE, Ill. – The Quad City Mallards have re-signed forward/defenseman Kyle Follmer for the 2016-17 season.
The Mallards are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild and the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild.
Follmer scored 16 points (7g-9a) in 41 games after joining the Mallards last November. The St. Paul, Minn. native started last season with the Allen Americans, where he appeared in three games.
As a rookie in 2014-15, Follmer scored 18 points (10g-8a) in 45 games with the Americans. He skated in four playoff games as Allen claimed the 2015 Kelly Cup title.
Follmer, who did not play during the 2013-14 campaign due to injury, spent four seasons at Northern Michigan University before turning professional. He scored 67 points (15g-52a) in 152 career collegiate games. He enjoyed his most productive season as a Wildcat when he produced a team-leading 22 assists and recorded 26 points as a junior in 2012-13.
Follmer arrived at NMU after three junior seasons in the United States Hockey League with first the Sioux City Musketeers and then the Lincoln Stars.
