Pinkston's return bolsters Americans' blue line

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, two-time defending Kelly Cup champions and ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced that the club has signed defenseman Rick Pinkston for the 2016-17 season.

Pinkston joined the Americans last season as a rookie, after playing four seasons at Dartmouth College. The native of Trenton, Mich. had 14 points in 45 games last year in Allen, while playing a big role for the Americans on their penalty kill unit.

Pinkston was assigned to Allen last season by the San Jose Sharks. He played in five games for the Americans' AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, finishing with five penalty minutes and a +2 rating.
