Rookies Walters and Low head to Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, announced that defenseman Nick Walters and forward Brayden Low have signed contracts with the club for the 2016-17 season.

Walters joins the Rush defense corps after a one-year stint in Canadian college hockey that was preceded by a four-year junior career. Most recently, the 22-year-old skated in 23 games with the University of Calgary. His time in the CIS followed his 307 games in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips, Brandon Wheat Kings and Lethbridge Hurricanes, where he notched 66 points (11g-55a). Additionally, he played four games in the AHL with the Peoria Rivermen. Walters, a native of St. Albert, Alberta, was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Low comes to the Rush after a season of Canadian college hockey that followed a five-year career in multiple junior leagues in Canada. The 22-year-old wrapped up last season with the University of Alberta, where he tallied 4 points (1g-3a) in 21 games. Before playing in the CIS, the Richmond, British Columbia native played five seasons of junior hockey, with 182 of 187 of his WHL games coming with the Everett Silvertips where he registered 57 points (26g-31a).
