Anthony Noreen enters his second season with the Solar Bears after being named the third head coach in club history on June 30, 2015.
The 33-year-old joined Orlando after a four-year stint as head coach of the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League. In 2014-15, Noreen was named USHL Coach of the Year after leading Youngstown to an Eastern Division title as well as the Anderson Cup as regular season champions with a record of 40-14-6. He guided the team to a USHL record 17-game winning streak from Feb. 17 through April 4 and the Phantoms ranked first in goals scored (223), power-play goals (65) and shorthanded goals (16), second in penalty killing percentage (86.7 percent), and allowed the third fewest goals (166). Noreen also helped develop Kyle Connor, who played three seasons (2012-15) in Youngstown before being drafted 17th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Noreen's coaching resume also includes one year (2010-11) as the assistant coach of the Phantoms, and two years (2007-09) as an assistant coach of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Noreen played four seasons (2003-07) at Stevens Point where he was named an ALL-NCHA Academic All American while serving as the team captain in both his junior and senior seasons.
