Trevor Cheek of the Fort Wayne Komets is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 31-Nov. 6.
Cheek scored one goal and added five assists for six points in two games last week.
The 23-year-old recorded four points (1g-3a) in his season debut on Friday in a 4-0 win against Indy and added a pair of assists in a 5-4 overtime loss at Brampton on Sunday.
A native of Vancouver, Wash., Cheek returned to the Komets last week after beginning the season with Tucson of the American Hockey League.
Cheek had 25 points (17g-8a) in 28 regular-season games with the Komets last season and added 13 points (5g-8a) in 16 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He has tallied 32 points (13g-19a) in 146 career AHL games.
Prior to turning pro, Cheek recorded 134 points (65g-69a) in 195 career Western Hockey League games with Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton.
On behalf of Trevor Cheek, a case of pucks will be donated to a Fort Wayne youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 35,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
