Everblades remain unbeaten in regulation

Everblades remain unbeaten in regulation

One month into the ECHL season, the Florida Everblades are the only team to have not suffered a regulation loss. Florida is 10-0-1 through 11 games and with 21 points, has a five-point lead over Atlanta for the top spot in the South Division.

The Everblades added four wins to their ledger last week, all on the road. They opened the week with a 2-1 win at Atlanta on Tuesday. Levko Koper and Michael Kirkpatrick tallied Florida’s goals while Daniel Altshuller picked up the win in goal, stopping 24 Gladiators’ shots.

On Friday, Florida was able to hold on for a 6-5 win over the Gladiators. Six different Everblades scored goals in the victory with six players notching multi-point games in the process. Anthony Peters earned the win in goal with 28 saves.

Florida headed to Greenville for a pair of games over the weekend, and started the series with a 2-1 overtime win on Saturday. Brendan O’Donnell scored the Everblades lone goal during in regulation and Mike Ferrantino tallied the game-winning goal 1:31 into the extra session. Altshuller turned in another solid effort in goal, stopping 27 Swamp Rabbits’ shots, including all 14 he faced in the third period and overtime.

The Everblades ended their busy week with a 6-2 win on Sunday. Mike Aviani led the way offensively with four points (1g-3a) while Eric Scheid chipped in with a pair of goals. Peters recorded his second win of the week with 27 saves.

Matt Berry leads the way for Florida a month into the season with 14 points (5g-9a). Koper has had a solid start to his first full pro season, as he is tied for fourth among rookies with five goals and is tied for 13th among first-year players with eight points. Zack Kamrass has provided offense from the blue line as his nine points (2g-7a) are tied for seventh among ECHL defensemen.

Altshuller and Peters have provided a strong one-two punch in goal for the Everblades, who as a team, lead the league with 1.82 goals-against per game while allowing the second-fewest shots at 25.09. Altshuller ranks second in the league 1.59 goals-against average and is eighth with a .929 save percentage while Peters is fifth with a 2.01 goals-against average and 10th with a .926 save percentage.

The Everblades are back on home ice for a pair of games this weekend, hosting Greenville on Friday and Missouri on Saturday.
