Toledo Walleye forward Tyson Spink is the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for October.
The 23-year-old scored four goals, added five assists and was a +7 in seven games during October, helping the Walleye to a 6-1-0 record in the opening month of the ECHL season.
A native of Williamstown, Ontario, Spink recorded at least one point in each of the final six games of the month, highlighted by a four-goal performance, including the game-winning goal in overtime, in the Walleye’s 6-5 win over Brampton on Oct. 22.
Spink leads ECHL rookies with nine points while he is tied for second among first-year players with four goals and a +7 rating. He made his pro debut at the end of last season with Toledo, notching four points (2g-2a) in five regular-season games and adding four assists in seven contests in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Prior to turning pro, Spink played four seasons at Colgate University, where he recorded 128 points (45g-83a) in 148 career games.
