Helgesen inks deal with Rush

RAPID CITY, S.D. –The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes, announced that defenseman Kenton Helgesen has been signed for the 2021-22 season.

Helgesen reports to Rapid City for what will be his seventh professional season. Over 114 career ECHL games, he has tolted 37 points (11g-28a) with Utah, Indy, Orlando, Norfolk and Idaho. He spent the 2020-21 season in the Southern Professional Hockey League with the Knoxville Ice Bears where he had 12 points (4g-8a) over 41 games and was named the SPHL Defenseman of the Year.

Prior to turning pro, Helgesen played four seasons for the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League. He recorded 130 points (34g-96a) in 266 career games and was the Hitmen’s captain for his final season in 2014-15. Helgesen was selected in the seventh round (187th overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
