Parets makes NHL debut

Former Norfolk Admirals goaltender Yaniv Perets became the 745th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday against Los Angeles.

Perets is the fifth former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2023-24 season. In 15 appearances with the Admirals this season, Perets is 6-8-1 with one shutout, a 2.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .906.

A native of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Perets is the first ECHL player to reach the NHL without playing in the American Hockey League since Kaden Fulcher in 2019. Last season, he helped lead Quinnipiac University to the NCAA National Championship.
